                        Moving forward positively

Counselling approach

As a counsellor I aim to create a supportive, non-judgmental, empathetic environment so you can safely explore challenges and beliefs that are limiting your personal wellbeing and relationships. Everyone is unique so timing, therapies and techniques are woven into sessions depending on your individual needs.  Our journey together supports you to find clarity, understand your actions/reactions and identify your resources, strengths and goals. The smallest change in focus, glimpse of hope, self-understanding or utilising a self-help technique can be the start towards future positive change. I look forward to walking beside you on your journey forward.

When Counselling may be helpful

Trauma -sexual and physical abuse, grief, developmental relationships, accidents, etc.

Emotional distress- stress, anxiety, depression, self-harm, self-esteem etc.

Relationships – couple, families, parenting, work place etc.

Life transitions - relationship breakups, work changes, personal loss, retirement etc.

Diversity -  physical disabilities, neuro (e.g. ADHD), sexual identity, cultural, religion etc.

Counselling is available for for individuals, couples and families in person or by zoom.

About Ruth

After 18 years of naturopathy and body work I re-training to become a counsellor as I believe mental wellbeing is so core to total wellbeing. I am passionate about my counselling work and feel very grateful to be a trusted part of people’s wellbeing journey. My Masters dissertation and recent professional development focused on mind-body relationships in trauma and trauma therapy. I have found this understanding has become a valuable resource in all counselling situations.

My life journey has enhanced my empathy and non-judgement as a counsellor. This is reflected in the diversity of past and current clients that have shared their counselling experience with me. Core to my counselling philosophy, is that everyone deserves to be valued and supported to live life to its fullest.
